The Los Angeles County Fire Safe Council will host a virtual meeting on wildfire preparedness on February 16, 2023. We’re fortunate to have Los Angeles City Fire Department Battalion Chief and weather expert Daniel Curry joining us. He will discuss the impact of this year’s rainy season, and how that may affect wildfire forecasting.
We’ll also share our monthly wildfire history review. This month, we’ll be covering the Woolsey Fire (2018) that burned through Los Angeles and Ventura counties. It burned nearly 100,000 acres, the milestone of being a “mega fire.” We’ll also have LAFD Captain Richard Diede discussing fuels and their impact on wildfires.
MySafe:LA hosts the L.A. County Fire Safe Council virtual meetings on the third Thursday of each month, except for January.
