Wildfire Los Angeles

Notice of Public Meeting for March 16, 2023

The “MySafe:LA Los Angeles County Fire Safe Council” will conduct a virtual meeting on wildfire preparedness on March 16, 2023, commencing at 7:00 PM (Pacific) and concluding (estimate) at 8:30PM (Pacific).

Our special guest for the March meeting is Captain Justin Clayton, from the Los Angeles City Fire Department. Captain Clayton has been engaged in the creation of the Wildfire Alliance and is the resilience officer for the Los Angeles City Fire Department’s Opeprations Valley Bureau. Captain Clayton will discuss the important benefits of being a member of the Wildfire Alliance.

Our look back at the history of wildfires will focus on the Loop Fire (1966), a wildfire that burned through the Pacoima Canyon and into Angeles National Forest. The El Cariso Hotshots, a U.S. Firest Service Hotshot crew was trapped by flames that hit them unexpectedly, resulting in 12 fatalities. Learn more about how wildfire can do the unexpected, and how that affects our overall safety.

MySafe:LA hosts the L.A. County Fire Safe Council virtual meetings on the third Thursday of each month, except for January.

Please see the attached agenda.
