As part of an ongoing effort to share wildfire essential information, the LAFD through their public information office and PIO Captain Erik Scott set up a production with LA CityView 35 (Channel 35) and invited the City’s Emergency Management Department, the Los Angeles Police Department, and MySafe:LA to participate.
“Anytime we can demonstrate to the public that wildfire mitigation is a collaborative effort, it increases the likelihood that people will take our messages seriously,” said MySafe:LA Commander David Barrett. “Both EMD and LAPD had strong messages to share, and Captain Scott from the LAFD is a valued partner, so overall, I think the show was pretty useful.“
MySafe:LA Public Captain and Public Information Officer Chris Nevil participated in the Spanish-language version of the show. Both were taped at the CityView studios in downtown Los Angeles.
A number of important topics were covered, including notification, evacuation, home hardening, and defensible space. MySafe:LA is actively working to help HOAs to become more resilient and to assist them in reaching NFPA Firewise USA and/or California Fire Safe Council Status.
