Wildfire Los Angeles

New upcoming wildfire safety fairs in L.A.

NOTICE: The EVENT at the GREEK THEATER has been postponed. There will be no wildfire safety fair on JULY 14, 2024.

Summer is here and so is the return of wildfires to Southern California. MySafe:LA and the Los Angeles City Fire Department are pleased to announce two additional wildfire safety fairs for communities in the wildland-urban interface (WUI): the Hollywood Hills and Mount Washington. The Hollywood event will take place on July 14, 2024, at the iconic Greek Theater in Griffith Park. The second wildfire fair will take place at the Mount Washington Elementary School in the Mount Washington neighborhood in Northeast Los Angeles. Each event will run from 11 AM through 2 PM.

These fairs will feature information and education on making your home safer from wildfire. Demonstrations on retrofitting your home to be more fire resistant, creating defensible space, and preparing your family will be shared. Your LAFD will have unique wildfire apparatus and, pending availability, a flyover featuring the Department’s AW-139 wildfire-fighting helicopters. Other important attendees will include representatives from the L.A. Emergency Management Department, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), the California Department of Insurance, your local council office, and vendors providing solutions for home hardening and fire safety.

Each family attending will receive a “wildfire passport” that can be stamped/stickered at each presentation. Once a family attends the required number of presentations (each one averages a few minutes), they can exchange the passport for a lunch ticket good for FREE food (while supplies last). Not only will there be delicious food, but MySafe:LA will be giving away an array of valuable prizes to attendees who visit the MySafe:LA booth.

Don’t miss out! It’s the perfect weekend lunch getaway! Good food, your local firefighters, and tips and tricks to surviving a wildfire.

The Greek Theater safety fair is co-sponsored by Nithya Raman, the councilwoman for District 4. The Mount Washington safety fair is co-sponsored by Eunisses Hernandez, the councilwoman for District 1.
