Wildfire Los Angeles

Get Ready for Rain

Dear friends and Angelenos –

As we continue to assess the damage from the recent wildfire disaster in Los Angeles, we’re also considering a new possible threat: rain.

The challenges related to rain are potentially severe, but we can all take steps to be prepared. MySafe:LA has organized a special section of our www.wildfirela.org website to give you answers. Get the information you need here:

https://www.wildfirela.org/rain/

This section of our Los Angeles Regional Fire Safe Council outreach includes not only baseline information but also how-to videos and materials to help you prepare for the upcoming rain. Thankfully, as of Friday morning, the forecast for this coming weekend isn’t too severe, but the need to be prepared is just as important as if it were a huge incoming storm.

During the coming weeks, there will be a lot of questions and investigations that ramp up. We want to be a provider of good-quality answers to your questions. We’ll start with simple information and add to our outreach and messaging as time passes.

To begin with, if you’ve been affected by any of the January wildfires, or if you know anyone who has, visit this RECOVERY section of our website, and feel free to share as you like:

Note that at the bottom of key pages on our website, there is a button that reads RELATED PAGES. If you click/tap on that button, you’ll see various related pages that can add additional support.

Do you need power right now?

MySafe:LA is working with various partners to share in the recovery and rebuilding process. Yoshino Power is hoping to help some people who need immediate power via a rechargeable power generator. These are unique systems that are battery-powered but powerful. If you have lost your home and need power for medical devices, to keep a business’s phones etc running, or to help you start the recovery process, there is an application form on our website to complete. Any decisions related to gifting power generators are at the sole discretion of Yoshino Power.

The next step is getting on the road to rebuilding. We want to be helpful in this regard as well. We realize there will be a lot of rebuilding notices, meetings, and even websites from many sources. Our information will help you make sense of all the rebuilding data thrown against the “information wall” and simplify it into easy-to-follow stories. We’ll also share other stories focused on rebuilding that may be unique to the rebuilding process.

To get started, we have some basic information in place and will make some useful announcements next week.

For a sneak peek at what will be coming, you can bookmark this page and check it out perhaps once a week or so:

As a reminder, if you have been affected by the recent fire disaster or if you know someone who has, we urge you to share your story and opinions via our public comment for the in-development FEMA-funded Community Wildfire Protection Plan. We want to hear from you, no matter your position. We are not a government agency, so we have a different take on some issues, including wildfires. Please share the link and share your thoughts.

Here is the link to the CWPP public input. Please note that we’ve extended the deadline for sharing your thoughts to February 28, 2025.

We’re grateful for the resilience of the Los Angeles community and for your support as well. For additional general information, please visit our main website at any time:

Take care of each other.
