The “MySafe:LA Los Angeles County Fire Safe Council” will conduct a virtual meeting on wildfire preparedness on May 18, 2023, commencing at 7:00 PM (Pacific) and concluding (estimate) at 8:30PM (Pacific).

Our main presentation will be about 2023 brush clearance, including activities around Wildfire Awareness Month and new wildfire materials. MySafe:LA will share some important information related to being properly aware relative to key issues – your home may be safe, but what about your neighbors. We’ll also have a guest from the brush unit of the LAFD, discussing the fire code, fines, and how to avoid them.

Our monthly wildfire review will focus this month on The Thomas Fire (2017) – At the time, the Thomas Fire was the largest fire in California history. 23 people died. 1,063 structures were destroyed. We’ll share important lessons from the Thomas Fire, including the deadly impact of mudslides that occurred after the fire. Could it happen again in Los Angeles? We have answers.
