MySafe:LA supports the efforts of the California Fire Safe Council to help residents to band together in the organized process of reducing the risk from wildfire. By working together, we can make a difference – one that will effectively reduce wildfire related losses, including injuries or deaths.
The Fire Safe Council initiative has multiple benefits, including but not limited to:
Helps residents better protect their homes and properties
Potential qualifications for certain types of insurance discounts
Create a “community” effort related to reducing wildfire risk
Better connectivity with local first responders
Options for State mandated (qualified) insurance discounts
Access to possible “community wildfire” related grants
There are other benefits as well, the most important being that if you participate, you’ll reduce the risk of losing your home to a wildfire.
What about the NFPA Firewise USA program?
The California Fire Safe Council isn’t the only initiative available to residents in California. The NFPA’s Firewise USA program is also useful and important, but has some different requirements. To learn about becoming an NFPA Firewise USA site, visit this page.
